RELEVANCE

Domain Names

A domain name (the end of a web address) can say a lot about a website. Here are a few common ones:

.com Commercial Site
.gov Government Agency
.edu Higher Education
.org Organization. May be charitable, religious, or a lobbying group.
.mil Military
.net Internet Service Provider

Recently, domains are now able to be customized and include new ones like .museum. Please contact a librarian if you have any questions about a particular domain!

American Horticultural Society
Founded in 1922, the non-profit American Horticultural Society (AHS) is one of the oldest member-based national gardening organizations in North America. The Society’s membership includes nearly 20,000 avid gardeners and horticultural professionals as well as numerous regional and national partner organizations.
National Gardening Association: Gardening Resources
The National Gardening Association (NGA) is a Vermont-based national nonprofit leader in garden-based education. NGA supports KidsGardening.org, a provider of grants and free materials for educators and families so that they may use gardening as a resource for learning. Our mission is to empower every generation to lead healthier lives, build stronger communities, and encourage environmental stewardship through educational garden programs.
American Society for Horticultural Science
The American Society for Horticultural Science (ASHS) is the world’s premier professional society for horticultural science. Founded in 1903, the mission of ASHS is to promote and encourage national and international interest in scientific research and education in horticulture in all its branches.
Southeastern Horticultural Society
The Southeastern Horticultural Society (SHS) is a nonprofit membership organization dedicated to promoting the knowledge, art and enjoyment of horticulture throughout the Southeastern United States.
