Sign in for full access (if you aren't already). If it says "Sign Out" at the top right, you're all set. But if not, click the "Sign In" link.
- Search for books by entering a keyword, ISBN, or other terms into the search box.

- Learn more about a book by clicking its title or "Table of Contents and more".
The detail page will show the book's availability for online reading and download, copy and print allowances, and bibliographic data.
- Save a link to a book into your bookshelf by clicking "Add to bookshelf"
- Open a book for reading by clicking "Read Online". Online-reading screen:

Navigate within a book by flipping or scrolling through pages, jumping to relevant chapters, or searching for text within the book. To maximize the reading panel, hide the left panel by clicking .

Annotate the book using "Highlight", "Add Note", or "Add Bookmark"; or select text first and use pop-up tools. Review or delete your annotations under in the side bar.
- Organize and share your research using Bookshelf tools; click at the top of the screen. Here you can share a book or folder of books with others, or export the notes you've made in a book.
- Get a citation for a selected book, in your choice of format, by clicking "Get a citation". Citations are also automatically included when you copy, print or page-range download.
- Get a link (URL) to a book, or a particular page within a book using "Share Link".
- Copy text - either the entire page you're reading by clicking "Copy" without having selected text, or select the text to copy and click from pop-up toolbar.
- For offline reading:
- Print a chapter or page range by clicking "Print to PDF"
- Download a chapter or page range by clicking "Chapter Download"
- Download the entire book (for a limited download period) by clicking "Full Download"
If you're browsing without first having signed in (some Ebook Central sites allow this), depending on your library's settings, you may be prompted to sign in once you attempt to:
- Copy
- Print
- Chapter/Page-range Download
- Read a book for more than 5 minutes (only for some books, depending on access model)
You will be prompted to sign in once you attempt to:
- Full Download
- Annotate or access other bookshelf features
