This guide is an introduction to the library and our services for Lanier Technical College Faculty.

Common Accreditation Issues

What are some steps you can take to make accreditation easier, especially when it comes to showing adequate support services?

  • Provide input about the library collection. We always have material to support your program, but you are the expert and your input makes our collection stronger.
  • Create a research project & invite a librarian to present to your class about library resources. It's one of the easiest ways to demonstrate both the usage of support services & that your students learn research skills that can be useful beyond the classroom.
  • Be careful about abbreviations in documents and when meeting with teams for site visits. For example, GALILEO is not a nationwide service and requires explanation to those who are not from Georgia.

Whether you are about the start the accreditation process or are going for re-accreditation, the library is available to assist in whatever way you require.

What can the library do to help during the accreditation process?

The library can provide the following services for any accreditation process:

  • Provide program specific material lists for both print and digital material.
  • Write up explanations of library services, including descriptions of the the physical libraries and library procedures.
  • Purchase items for the library collection (advance notice required)
  • Meet with accreditation teams to discuss library resources and services.
  • Give tours of the physical libraries.
